The Rock N Roll was great fun!  Was wonderful to spot the purple people and ring the cowbell to cheer them on.  We were lucky enough to see them go over the hill at about mile 3 and come back down the hill at almost mile 12.  Every one rocked it!  Go Team!

Then last week we volunteered at the Nascar Saturday race.  What a long day.  Got to the track at about 9:30 am and left at 3AM!!!!!!!!!!  We helped to set up the merchandise booth and then sold shirts, hats, earplugs and lots of ponchos during the rain delay.  After that everyone was freezing, so we sold sweatshirts and blankets until we sold out.  I'm very thankful for the opportunity to be able to work the event and raise some money for LLS.  Boy, it was a long day.  I slept Sunday away.

Well, I almost slept Sunday away.  Met Jane and Lindsey for dinner to learn more about the race course and some things to do in our short time in San Francisco.  Jane is a two time Nike veteran and very helpful and informative.  I don't know how she can remember such detail of the course, but I'm glad she can.  And, now I'm more excited than ever.

She told us about the Inspiration Dinner where there are nearly 6000 people there for LLS.  It's almost impossible to imagine.

I want to thank everyone for their generous donations and support!  I still have a ways to go to make my goal, but we are getting closer every day!

Keep checking back for more fundraising events!

August 31st--the last day of August already!  Where has the time gone?  It was a year ago this time that I was anxiously packing for my first half marathon--the Rock N Roll Half at Virginia Beach.  It was thrillling to be a part of a great team of people who had trained and fundraised for months.  This year I'll be cheering some teammates on as they achieve their goals!  Good going RNR teammates!  Go Team!

Nike is getting closer and closer!  We've had our recommitment, the airline tickets are purchased, training continues.  As a part of the event, we were asked to submit pictures of those that we are running/walking for.  I started going through my photos and ended up sending 37 pictures.  Wow!  Thirty seven very different stories--some of battles lost, some of victories, and some of continued struggles.  So, as I'm out there during the week, on the weekends, and during the race, these pictures will play through my mind.

A lot has happened since my last post--I've been fortunate to be able to participate in the Virginia Beach Silent Mile, I've trained with Virginia Beach, Peninsula, and Richmond teams.  I've survived heat.  I've made new friends.  I've had some fundraisers and working on more to come.

I've heard stories from folks whose scans are clear to ones who are facing chemo again.  I rejoice with some and I worry about others.

That's why I train.  Won't you help me help others?  http://pages.teamintraining.org/va/nikesf12/sreid2

Our Silent Mile was yesterday in Richmond and several brave people shared their stories.  It was an inspiring morning leading to a mile of complete silence for about 50 people who were walking, running, and cycling.  It's hard to not be motivated hearing what some have been through.  They remind us all of why we are out there at some awful hour on Saturday morning's and either early every morning or late regardless of the weather.  (And, there will be some scorchers ahead of us!)

So, if you haven't done so yet, please make a donation--nothing is too small.  And check back often for fundraisers.  There's bound to be something that will suit your fancy!

Thanks, http://pages.teamintraining.org/va/nikesf12/sreid2
